Carol Denysshen

The School of the Professions was established in 2005 with a mission of educating future professionals to lead across diverse settings, and to contribute to professional and social communities through partnerships.

Our school provides education that enhances intellect, enriches the lives of students, and prepares graduates for productive and successful careers in a global society. Our award-winning faculty, staff, and students perform in accordance with the highest professional standards. We are committed to academic excellence.

As Dean, I assure you that your time here will be engaging, inspiring, enriching, and filled with diversity. We offer the support needed to train you to be leaders in your field, and the tools needed to keep up with progressively changing disciplines and technology. Our undergraduate and graduate programs prepare you for success and advancement in multiple industries.

Our vision is to prepare graduates to make significant impacts in their community and the world, and to embrace and effectively function in a global environment. Our departments incorporate a wide breadth of disciplines, including:

  • STEM areas of Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics, and Speech-Language Pathology

  • Human service areas of Criminal Justice, Fashion and Textile Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, and Social Work
  • Graduate studies in Business, Creativity and Change Leadership, Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Higher Education Administration, and Speech-Language Pathology

My role as Dean is to lead this school, in accordance with its mission, into the changing landscape of professional preparation. Our goal is to make your experience in higher education impactful and your time at Buffalo State meaningful. Our dedicated faculty and staff are key ingredients, but we can’t do it without you and your enthusiasm. I welcome you to come join our family and learn how we can change your life!
